Brace yourselves. The good, the bad and the ugly from the Met Ball 2010.

Hermio... I mean, Emma Watson definitely tops my best dressed list from the Met Ball 2010.
Seeing as it was overseen by American Vogue and the 'Almighty Fashion Empress Anna Wintour' I thought the fashion stakes would be higher but it was actually surprisingly blah.
The celebs either wore outfits that were plain old boring (see Claire Danes) or just outright strange (see Katy Perry. Scroll down to the bottom, NOW)
Apart from the stunning Ms Watson though, who wore Burberry (seriously what else would she wear? She was even escorted by Christopher Bailey) for the most glamorous night of the year. Lookin' good Emma:
Check out the good, the bad and the ugly on the British Vogue gallery here, or alternatively the Go Fug Yourself website for fabulously catty yet witty reviews of each look.

I think we can agree that Katy Perry's neon light up dress is firmly in the "bad" category, yes?

Woop woop. Now I am 1 exam down with 16 to go... Wish me luck for the rest!

Happy Easter Sunday Everyone :)

I am very happy right now eating chocolate eggs for breakfast, listening to Paulo Nutini on the radio and after I've watched Gossip Girl I'm going to go and visit my grandparents. Lovely day :)
What are you up to?

Latest Style Obsession: Plaits

There are many reasons why I am currently in love with braids. Its mainly the fact that you can wear them in so many different ways and that each style looks fresh, feminine and oh so effortless.
I will let the photos do the talking though: Kate in her super cute plaits and daisy chains
We Heart It (I am addicted to this sight. Especially now they have sorted themselves out and improved the layout!)
Another We Heart It find
The beautiful Chloe Sevigny, love her bohemian style plaits.
We Heart It once again- If anyone knows the original sources though let me know!
A brilliant illustration from the artist Elisabeth Moch

Fashion Toast's simple yet cool plait

Braid beauty special in Bogue Taiwan, this hair do is awesome!
And of course they were also seen on the runways- Luella AW 09 had Pippi Longstocking style hyper plaits
Whereas Alexander Wang's spring summer 2010 ready to wear had loose, relaxed and breezy braids
The lovely Karlie Kloss backstage at A Wang.

I hope you have found these images as inspiring as I do...

5 Stars- The September Issue *****

Just got back from seeing “The September Issue” and it didn’t disappoint.
R.J. Cutler's new film is an amazing insight into the Vogue office and the world of fashion where as the tagline states: “Fashion is a religion. This is the Bible.”
The film documents the 2007 September issue of Vogue as the team put together the single largest issue of a magazine ever published.
It was intriguing to see Anna Wintour, the editor in chief nicknamed “Ice Queen” behind closed doors and I was surprised to see how charming she can be, for example with the designer Thakoon and there is a particularly touching moment when she says her brother (a political editor for The Guardian) and sister (who works in charity) find her job "amusing."
The film actually has lots of funny moments such as when the brilliantly flamboyant Andre Leon Talley declares: "There is a famine of beauty darling! My eyes are starving for beauty!" and also when he turns up to a tennis lesson (on Anna's orders) in Louis Vuitton.
But the star of the film for me had to be Grace Coddington, creative director at American Vogue who is the genius behind the clothes and the photo shoots who has been working in the business for thirty years. She specialises in 20 page editorials which are often romantic and have a picture book like quality to them (she was the talent behind that magical Alice in Wonderland themed shoot)
Grace and Anna started Vogue at the same time and so Grace is one of the few with the courage to stand up to Anna when she is in her formidable business mode. You cannot deny they are obviously a perfect partnership though with Grace's artistic talent and Anna's straight talking drive.
Altogether it is a fascinating look at what it would be like to work in the famous Vogue office with fashions most influential figure.

The Big September Issue- I've got mine!

What a lovely surprise that Kate (my favourite gal!) was on the front cover!
I was so pleased that the "Fabulous Fashion Issue" didn't disappoint and I was chuffed when I discovered how heavy it was because then I know that it is crammed with fashion, fashion, fashion!
Another great issue and is it weird that I love looking at the many, many adverts?
Strangely enough I find the photographs and the layouts of the ads as beautiful as the actual editorials.

Latest Style Obsession- "All that glitters is not gold..."

I have moved on from my floral fetish and now it is all about the gold, the glimmer and the glitter.
You can't help but feel all special and dressed up in a nice sparkly dress or a shimmery pair of heels.
(Above: Jimmy Choo heels, Versace Runway gold sequinned dress, Anja Rubik doing a beauty shoot for Vogue Nippon and a lovely Kate Moss for Topshop bandeau dress.)
