30 for 30 Finale: The Summer Edition

30-for-30-Round-Up_Summer

So here are all the 30 looks all in one place. I still have a few combinations up my sleeves, but I've decided to wear them outside of the challenge -- as I don't have enough clothes not to. Unless you count a shirt with no pants as an outfit. I know somewhere in America they do, but I'm not allowed to go there.

So I have to say that this time around was a lot easier. Perhaps in part because I knew what to expect, but I really enjoy having this challenge around and I hope you do to. It really helps to give me perspective on what I have and a balance of what I want and what I need. My friend Emily Kennedy said that this whole experience is very "zen of your closet" and I couldn't agree more. To" be in the closet you have" is a challenging but wonderful thing.

I have to say that if this has not made you a believer in accessories, then I don't know what will. A scarf, a belt, a pair of shoes can change an outfit easily, quickly and cheaply. All I want for fall are scarves and a pair of boots. I might get cold, but it will be worth it, trust me.

Moving on to the more gratuitous part of this wrap-up are my favorite looks. Numbers 3, 6, 12, 17, 24, 30 were my faves (1 for each week). Did you have a favorite? My husband seemed to like all of the outfits that contained either the lace top or the leopard print skirt. Typical.

To everyone that participated THANK YOU! I hope you had fun and learned a thing or two about your closet. If you want to participate for another challenge, I'm sure I'll be brewing something up later on this fall.

(Oh and in case you wanted a poster size of my 30 for 30 outfits, just contact me. I'm only printing two on my black and white laserjet printer -- one for you, lucky reader, and one for my husband for his office. A huge poster of 30 Kendi's just sitting next to a vase of confetti. He loves my decorating skillz. <--------- made even more distinguished when I use the letter "z.")

Outfit number 30! Wheeee! And in honor of the remix I decided to make a dress into a shirt. You will be relieved to know that it was a simple tuck and not a full-on cut. I learned my lesson when I cut up my wedding dress into a top to wear to a concert...come on, you guys aren't buying that are you? Surely I've trained you to know that I'm completely full of crap right?

I was so excited to finish another remix that I thought it deserved a miniature celebration. Celebration in my mind automatically equals confetti. This rings true for all holidays, birthday parties, and generally any time the banks are closed. Mainly because confetti is cheap and for the most part biodegradable. I like to party, but responsibly.

See doesn't he look like he's having fun?

So that's it for the summer edition of my 30 for 30. I have to say the second time around is a lot easier. I'm excited to have finished mostly just so that I can remix my pieces in with other things I have in my closet. My husband is just excited that I'll start doing more laundry again.

(I'll post my review of the challenge and all of the 30 for 30 outfits later on this weekend!)

Today I felt like an adult. I know what you are thinking, "lame story, Kendi." What's next are you going to finally make your bed and hang up your clothes, as well? Start paying your bills on time? Stop leaving the pizza box out at night and eating the cold pizza in the morning for breakfast? No, no guys, I wouldn't go to that extreme. But I did handle a conflict at work today. Now I didn't say that I handled it well, but I didn't cry and therefore I felt more like an adult than I ever have. If there is a conflict and I am at fault, believe me there will be tears. And I wear liquid eyeliner, so there is no turning back once they start to fall. I've learned that people start to freak when they see those black tears, which is mainly why I wear liquid eyeliner. I like the added dramatic effect it brings to those overly emotional situations. Especially in group therapy sessions. But today I did not cry, and for that I'm proud.

So proud that I did the most adult thing I could think of. I bought a house on a credit card that I just applied for online on my lunch break. We move in on Saturday.

Props to my husband who let me borrow his belt for today. Little does he know that I've commandeered it for forever.

(Guys -- I'm totally kidding on the house and applying for a credit card on my lunch break. But i'm not kidding about that belt, it's mine forever.)

Um well...

Those were the first and only two words I had on my post for about an hour, so I decided to leave them there. They have earned their stay.

Someone asked me on Formspring what I'm most looking forward to for fall fashions. Mostly I'm excited to be wearing animal prints and lace. So get ready to see this outfit over and over again. I'll be sure to add in some socks for when the colder weather comes.

Today on the phone, someone said to me "you're awesome" instead of "you're welcome." I'm taking that freudian slip and running with it. I haven't been told that I was awesome since 1996. Today was a great day.

There is really no good explanation for us owning a giant, inflatable heart. One day I saw it at Urban and I told Bryan I liked it and the next thing I knew it was sitting in our house. This has also happened with our two dogs. One day I said I'd like to adopt a dog, the next day we had two. Be careful what you wish for, right?

I do have to say that this giant heart has broken up many a fights between me and the mister. It's actually really hard to keep your guard up when one of us grabs the heart and puts it in front of our face. You just can't say no to that kind of apology. Who needs flowers when they've got a heart-shaped floating device full of hot air?

Although I've worn a different variation of this outfit before, I am much like George Washington in the fact that I've cut down a few cherry trees. Oh and I will not tell a lie. I almost didn't post it for fear of boring you guys, but it's true I wore this. Although I bought this shirt with full intention to wear it to the office, I've been wearing almost exclusively on the weekends. Here is Pete and this version is Repeat.

How was your weekend, sweetie pies?

Remix Round-Up 21-25

21-25roundup

I can't tell you how fun it is to see everyone finishing up their challenges! I'm one proud mama, that is for sure. I'll be finishing mine up next week!

Some Remix Round Up Love:
This outfit makes me want it to be fall PRONTO!

Keira has been knocking it out with her 30 for 30 inspired Summer Bootcamp! Her remixes are So inspiring!

I can assure you that Jersey Shore has never looked so chic.

And on day 21, her co-workers finally noticed :)

I just realized Lisa embarked on this challenge right before her wedding. She's a brave soul and she just finished. Congrats on your upcoming wedding!

I love what AJ had to say in her Confessions of a Remixer.

Megan from Transmission Me is one fantastic remixer! Did you see all of her favorites? I think they were all of mine as well!

Alright guys, since honesty seems to be the theme around here, this is a direct copy of Erin's outfit yesterday. I saw her outfit and immediately thought -- hey I can do that! And then I did it. So Erin, please know that I totally knocked you off in complete "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery" type of way. I promise not to go all "Single White Female" on you and cut my hair in a cute pixie and I promise to not move to California to be your next door neighbor. But I might get your Jessica Simpson platforms. Well not yours, I would buy my own.

You should probably never tell me address.

Also, excuse the strange lack of a full building behind me. It was at one time the hospital my husband was born in. And now it looks like Transformers has come and gone, leaving angry piles of buildings. Rumor has it that they are tearing it down, piece by piece, and shipping off the 50+ year old building materials to South America. Rumor also has it that Mrs. Johnson has been running around on the mister with the sheriff, so take that for what's it worth.

Two posts, one day. That's what you get when I freak out, hesitate and post a day late. By the way, thanks so much for the encouragement -- I don't know what I was thinking either. I really like that outfit now, so thanks to you guys and my husband for the kind words. It's true though -- some days how you feel can project so much as to how you look at yourself. I needed a hug and a nap yesterday. I got one of them. Thanks for sticking with me through bad moods and all.

I'm really surprised by how fast this remix challenge has gone by. Outfit 24 and I've got so many more combinations spinning in my head and only 6 more outfits to go. Maybe I'll throw in a few extra credit outfits in there at the end, just to keep you guys around.

I decided to wear my cardigan as a shirt today which was nice while I was in the office, terrible when I was outside in the glaring heat. One word: sweaty. I might wait this trend out until late October when it's less than 1000 degrees outside.

Not to get all domestic on you or anything, but have you ever made something so disgusting for dinner that you can't stomach it after one bite? Well this happened tonight and about halfway through dinner my husband asked if my stomach hurt like his did. Ladies, if your husband suggests that his stomach is upset 10 minutes into dinner, you should just start cooking with Pepto. If you are wondering what I dreamed up in my kitchen tonight, I've got a strict "don't ask, don't tell" policy when it comes to imaginary recipes.

The good news is I looked darling in my apron while cooking it and I'm off of kitchen duty for the next two months.

(EDIT: Guys -- what is this?!? Is it a dead bird? A spider? A tarantula? Whatever it is, I ended up stepping on it. Guesses are welcome.)

(EDIT 2: It was a bat. Turns out there are a lot of them in this parking garage. Sadly, he is no longer with us. We think that the Texas heat probably got the best of this little guy.)
