Today was so rainy. Actually it's been rainy all week because of Hurricane Alex blowing in south of us. (We're not on the coast so we won't see any damage, just lots of rain.) And if there is one weather condition that baffles my wardrobe's mind its rain. I can dress for snow, heat, wind, and a wintery mix -- but summertime rain gets me every time. Because while yes it's raining, it's still a balmy 85 degrees out there. So obviously white was out but I also wanted something that was comfortable. That's when I remembered this shirt I bought years ago and never knew what to do with it. This top was was made for days like today.

Looking at my pictures now, I realize that my shoes are really, really red. I've never noticed that before but they kind of look like clown shoes. Size 10 feet are hard to hide, especially when I put them in little red boats against a drab cement sea.

So continuing on my fake mom outfits, let's call this one "the field trip." It's a little casual, a little flashy and I bet that it would leave you a sweet note in your packed lunch.

dressed to perfection...

How adorable is this dress on little Miss Valentine? Seriously...

Every story has an end.. But in life, every ending is just a new beginning

Hi lovely readers. It's nice weather here in the Netherlands, and I'm enjoying it very much, so that's the reason why I'm a bad blogger right now. But hey? Summer is here, I mean: SUMMER!! Finally. Here an outfit with my new H&M ruffle top! I'm so glad I finally have it, because I want it so damn badly.

Hope you'll like it, and how do you enjoy your holiday? (Sorry for the girls who have no holiday yet, but it will be there soon! :) )

SUMMER CHALLENGE LIST 2010.

Source- We Heart It

I have created a list of things I want to achieve this summer and as I cross them off my list I am going to blog about them along the way. Keep reading to see my:

SUMMER CHALLENGE LIST 2010.

(you're loving the dramatic large title right?)

1. Cook a 3 course meal. (I have chosen this one because I never really cook anything apart from the occasional dish of pasta and my Dad even insists that that is just "heating stuff up, not proper cooking." So I am going to stretch my non existent cooking ability, pour over the Jamie Oliver, Nigella Lawson, Delia Smith and Gordon Ramsey hard backs that are in my humble kitchen and cook a meal for my family. Wish me luck. This will be the hardest. I ain't no Julie or Julia (you should really see this film is you haven't already by the way, just for the hilarity of Meryl Streep who acts Julia Child as a constantly drunken French woman)

2. Learn one of my Grade 6 piano pieces. (I need to get going if my exam is in December)

3. Watch loads of inspiring film sand write a review for every single one I see.(SUGGESTIONS PLEASE?)

4. Read loads of inspiring books and write a review for every one I read (DITTO?)

5. Take loads of photographs with my trusty Canon 1000D and get myself back onto Flickr.

6. Go to London and get my summer wardrobe sorted. (So this one isn't exactly Nobel prize winning or even technically challenging but I have been working hard, I need a break, OKAY?)

7. Have a proper conversation with a French person when I go to France (NOTE TO SELF: THIS EXCLUDES SIMPLY SAYING "BONJOUR" OR "J'VOUDRAIS....." A PROPER CONVERSATION)

8. Get an article I have written published in a newspaper/magazine. (I always wanted to be a writer when I was older and now I am liking the sound of going into journalism so this would be an amazing first step to getting my name published in the Guardian- the ultimate dream)

9. Write a short story. Or a short film. Or a poem. Or an article. Just write something good really.

10. Get a job. (This probably is one of the most important things on the list although maybe not the funnest. My dream job would be to work behind the scenes on Glee- anyone make this happen, pretty please?)

11. Read a Shakespeare play. (I am thinking about being a proper nerd and reading all the books that are on the reading list for AS Level English Literature and Language early. Romeo and Juliet is one of them. I'm so going to get on this.)

12. Get my National Life Guard Award. (I told you that I was doing this a while back, can't wait to do it and then teach people how to swim.)

13. Get my exam results back. (And hopefully do well.)

I don't want to leave this list at 13, seeing as it's an unlucky number and all that but I can't think of anymore to add for now so I will just leave it at that.

So follow my blog if you want- I pinky promise it's really easy and I'll love you forever and ever- and join me as I try and accomplish all of them and cross them off the list.

Oh and if any of you have suggestions for challenges then feel free to tweet me here, or write it as a comment.

Wish me luck on my challenges!
Muchos love,
Beth Ruby xoxo

For my German readers!

Okay so after reading your comments, conducting further investigation and calling my sister for her response to the post, I've come to yet another conclusion: I don't want to be a mom, I want to be a hot mom. My sister said that my outfit is totally mom-ish but it's like one of those moms that all of the other moms hate because it looks like I got 15 minutes to myself and was able to shower and clean myself up properly. Also -- Clare left a great point. If I'm going to wear white pants and tops from Anthropologie, I'm going to need a nanny. I don't have kids yet, but I love the idea of hiring a nanny. We need a maid and I need someone to pick me up from work, bring me lunch and listen to my day while baking me cookies. Let me know if you are interested. I pay in hand-me-downs and chocolate.

Remember this dress? Well now its a top. Which by the way, it's a lot easier to make a dress into a top, than to make a dress into a skirt. Lesson learned.

Friends -- I interrupt this blog post to bring you another blog post: Starting next Monday, July 5th, I'm starting another 30 for 30 Remix, the summer edition. And you all are invited to join in. Here are the rules :

1. Pick out 30 items (shoes included) and list or take a picture of the items and post on your blog.
2. Leave a comment below or email me about your involvement and where you are blogging at, I'll link your blog and check in on you regularly like a stalker.
3. Spread the love to the other re-mixers. And invite others on your blog to join in as well. I'll post a banner for you to use on your remixes each week.

It's just that simple. I'll try to get my remix items posted this week to give you a glimpse at what I'll be remixing. So get ready friends for the next 6 weeks, 5 outfits a week and by using the word "Remix" at least 3 times per post, I will rock the crap out of my closet. Let's do this.

When I put my outfit on this morning I thought to myself "if I were a cool mom, I would wear this outfit" and then I congratulated myself on being able to not only wake up 10 minutes late but stop by Starbucks and get myself a coffee before getting myself to work all in one piece.

So all day I've been thinking what a great mom I would be in my fashionable mom outfit. I thought about how cool I would look picking up my kid at school or going to a PTO meeting. I can do this, I can be a mom. So I think to myself, since I'm kind of a mom now, this week I will blog outfits that mom's can wear while still being functional and fashionable. Feeling robust, I call my sister (mother of two -- a 4 year old and a 21-month old) and I ask her what she wears and what she never wears as a mom. Here are her answers:

1. No white, ever.
2. No belts.
3. No heels.
4. No chunky jewelry -- unless you have a death wish or you want it broken in 5 minutes of putting it on.

I looked down at my outfit and everything she mentioned, I was wearing. Then she ended with this: "But other than that, you can just about wear anything." Anything? Is there anything good left?

So with my "mom outfit" shot to hell, I have nothing to offer you mom's out there. In fact, I have absolutely no idea what it means to be a mom, so stop with the emails asking child rearing advice. I've been making it up all along.

Best mermaid duo ever ♥

Xanthe (left) and me (right) :D

Ok so we kind of looked like mermaids right?
Unfortunately evolution hasn't let us physically sprout a fish tail (yet...) so I think the maxi dresses did a good enough job of getting the idea across for me and the fabulous Xanthe May, oui?

I ended up going way over budget for my maxi dress because I tried so many on in so many shops but then as soon as I walked into Topshop I saw this one and BAM it had to be mine.
Also at the 'Under The Sea' themed birthday bash I spied a Loch Ness Monster (cleverly wearing red tartan and green face paint) a giant yellow submarine, a pearl, a drop of water, a wave, surfers, some Hawaiians and also some sailors and pirates.
What a night.
And then it's my leavers ball tomorrow marking the end of my compulsory education and officially kicking off my 10 week summer holdiay. Wahey.
I am even going to get my hair cut and my makeup done at MAC with my BFFL for it. I know, get me pulling out all the stops.
Hope all you lovely bloggers/blog readers are having lots of fun in the sunshine, I know its unusually sweltering in England at the moment.
So layer up the factor 30 and enjoy amigos!

Finally reaching the big 200 has made my day! Love you guys!

Ethno

Mein New-Look Kleid ist endlich am Freitag angekommen!! Mir gefältt das Kleid total, weil es hinten gehäkelt ist und einen coolen Ethnoprint hat.

My NewLook dres came on Friday! I love this dress so much because it is ethno printed and the back is chrochet.

Remember when I was being resourceful with my creativity and I made my own maxi dress from the contents of my closet? And you all thought I was so fantastic and thrifty? And I was like "why spend money when you can make your own? Look at me everyone -- I'm awesome!" Remember those days?

Well the time has come for you to know something about me. If you put something in front of me that used to cost $78 and now costs $14, I will throw out all of my principles, morals and values and I will buy that item. In other words, I bought a maxi dress. My name is Kendi and I am a sale-aholic.

But you guys, this little dress was just sitting in a lonely corner with no other dresses like it around. Her self-confidence had been slashed each time she was tried on and left on the dressing room floor. And then she kept getting marked down -- first 10%, then 25% and then by 90%. It was all I could to buy her and throw on a belt and wear her. Can't you see? I'm just trying to save the world, one cheap dress at a time.

Fashion: "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" Premiere

Best Dressed Of The Week – Robert Pattinson In Gucci & Jamie Chung In Tibi June 27th, 2010. For the first time in Red Carpet Fashion Awards history a dude has won the readers vote.

Robert Pattinson shunned the usual black and grey formulaic suit to inject some much needed life onto the red carpet at the “Twilight Saga: Eclipse” LA Premiere.

Kristen Stewart from head to toe on the red carpet. The Twilight Saga: Eclipse movie premiere held at the Los Angeles Film Festival on June 24, 2010 featured the young starlet in a strapless one-shoulder cocktail dress that was appropriate for her age, yet very glamorous with lace trimmings. Considering the fact that Fanning and Stewart wore the same designer (Elie Saab), it is shocking how unbalanced their red carpet appearances are when it comes to celebrity style. Kristen Stewart’s white one-shoulder dress from Elie Saab looked like a Project Runway assignment gone wrong. Her Twilight Saga: Eclipse movie premiere dress looks like it does not fit well, as if it were a last minute selection from an older celerity’s closet. Dakota Fanning on the other hand, was not only beautiful in her dress but just as gorgeous wearing Christian Loboutin high heel shoes that were dangerously chic.

Fanning was no doubt, the best dressed female celebrity on the red carpet at the Twilight Saga: Eclipse movie premiere…..even though Kristen Stewart is supposed to be the it-girl, star and “face” of the whole Twilight movie franchise.

My summer starts here

So it's the first day of my sumer holidays; I'm free!

Finally my 17 exams are over (it was official when I tore up my exam timetable into teeny tiny little pieces and also binned all my old notes) and I now have 10 weeks of sunshine ahead of me. Hallelujah!

So to celebrate I am going to have a chilled out afternoon and visit the Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize (which I went to last year and loved so I bet there will be even more amazing new talent there this year) and then this evening I am going to my best friends' joint fancy dress birthday party, which is 'Under The Sea' themed. I am going as a mermaid. Don't ask me how that is going to work- I am hoping that with my new Topshop maxi dress and with Xanthe May's genius MAC and hair crimping skills I'm going to look good.

(Might even post some photos tomorrow if you're lucky)

And hopefully because I have all this time off I can get around to a lot more blogging, checking out my favourites, finding new ones and posting lots more.

Oh and photos by me on my lovely jubbly Canon, of my darling little sister, in my humble back garden. Hope you like them!

Finally, tell me, are you up to any adventures this fine Saturday?
*Many blogging virtual hugs and kisses*
Beth Ruby xoxo

ps) Can anyone be an absolute darling and let me know how to post my photographs all big and beautiful on my blog?
